Service learning is an integral part of courses such as Business Communication, which is a required course for all business majors. Service projects give students the opportunity to accomplish course objectives, while also serving the needs of businesses and non-profit entities. Also, service projects are required for participation in the Leadership Living Learning Community.

  • Every October, the St. Edward's University community celebrates its Holy Cross heritage with the Founder's Day Service Project, during which students work with multiple non-profit organizations throughout the region.
  • Each January, students join members of the Austin community to volunteer at the MLK Day of Service at Huston-Tillotson University.
  •  In April, Student Government sponsors the annual BIG Event in which students, faculty and staff members help clean, paint and repair homes, churches, parks and schools in the community surrounding the University.

St. Edward's students volunteer nearly 80,000 hours of their time through service each year.
