Your Guide to Campus Living

The Guide to Campus Living helps you navigate policies and procedures about living in the residence halls and apartments. You'll find information about living with roommates, damage charges, visitation hours and more.

Resident Resources

For first-year students, living on campus is a new experience that can be overwhelming at times. Here are resources designed to support you and help ease the transition:

  • Frequently Asked Questions
Before you start packing, review our Frequently Asked Questions and learn about what you should bring.
  • 3-Day Emergency Checklist
During emergencies, SEU will have staffing in place to support residents’ needs, however, we highly recommend that each resident keep an emergency survival kit in their room or apartment. This emergency kit should include three days’ worth of supplies, such as water and food, basic first aid supplies, and any special need items.
  • 5 Tips for Making Your Res Hall Room Your Own
We know residence hall rooms are small, but with some creativity, you can make them feel like home. Here, some of our students give their advice on how to make this possible to achieve maximum livability.

In the online housing application, you'll agree to the Housing Contract. This contract includes information about check-in/check-out dates, cancelation policies and room changes.

If you are in need of proof of residency, please email us.

Campus residents that have emergency repairs such as broken water pipes, power outages, lock difficulties or other safety/security hazards should immediately contact a Residence Life staff member. If you can't reach a staff member, contact University Police at 512-488-8444.

For routine repairs, fill out the maintenance request appropriate to the community in which you live:

These requests will be reviewed and submitted by your residence director. Facilities will not process requests sent to their office that do not come from Residence Life professional staff.

It is important to report minor problems before they become major problems. If a condition becomes worse because of failure to report the problem in a timely manner, residents may be assessed damage charges. Residents are asked to cooperate with the maintenance staff so repairs can be made as quickly as possible. The university reserves the right to enter an apartment to make needed repairs.

We are pleased to recommend GradGuard to help you protect your belongings with renters insurance!
