Unfiltered: Bluebonnets and a Favorite Food Spot

This article is part of an ongoing series, in which students document their experiences, both on campus and beyond, from their unique perspective.

Cristobal Quiroz ’21 is a Biology and Political Science double major. His favorite part of Austin is the scenery. ‘There are so many trees, bodies of water and wildlife, and I find that so refreshing,” he says. “Coming from a desert city, it was a very big change moving to Austin, and I’m loving every minute of it!” Quiroz took these photos during a busy spring weekend.

More About Cristobal

Where did you grow up? I’m originally from Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. I lived there for several years before moving to El Paso, Texas, the border city to Juarez. Once I started college, my family decided to move to Austin to stay close.

What inspires you? First and foremost, my mother, who immigrated to the United States to give me a better life. In addition, all of the minorities who continue to surpass all expectations and keep fighting for a better future for everyone inspire me tremendously.

What do you do in your free time? In my free time (something that basically doesn’t exist), I like to read, play tennis, and — of course, as all of my friends know — go out to eat!
