St. Edward's University Again Named Fulbright HSI Leader for 2023

Austin, Texas — St. Edward’s University is proud to be named a Fulbright Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Leader for 2023 joining only 8% of institutions to receive this designation out of nearly 600 HSIs overall.

This is the third year that St. Edward’s has received this national recognition from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The ECA recognizes the noteworthy engagement that selected HSIs have achieved with the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship international academic exchange program.

“This recognition further underscores our institution’s long-standing commitment to serving our Hispanic students, and it acknowledges our efforts to foster an inclusive environment that delivers exceptional academic and experiential learning opportunities, ensuring the success for all of our students,” said St. Edward’s University President Montserrat Fuentes. “The Fulbright Program provides our students with global engagement opportunities that allow them to use their education and experience on the hilltop to make a difference in communities worldwide.”

Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Lee Satterfield commended the institutions receiving the Fulbright HSI Leader designation this year, saying, “representation matters and pairing the world-class educational opportunities that Hispanic-Serving Institutions provide with the power of Fulbright further enriches the experience and educational opportunities for students and scholars both at home and abroad.”

Since 2004, more than 80 Fulbrights have been awarded to St. Edward’s University students to teach, learn and immerse themselves in diverse cultures in more than a dozen countries around the world.
