Student Disability Services

Ensuring Equal Access

Student Disability Services (SDS) provides equal access to St. Edward’s University students with disabilities, in keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Fair Housing Act (FHA).

SDS Mission

In keeping with Holy Cross tradition of St. Edwards University, SDS fosters an inclusive campus community by providing equal access to students with disabilities. We promote equal opportunity through accommodation, consultation and collaboration with faculty, staff and students. Student Disability Services honors the uniqueness of every person through individualized relationships that build self-advocacy skills, self-understanding and academic success.

Student Disability Services offers a variety of services and resources to students with documented disabilities, including:

  • Academic accommodations
  • Housing accommodations
  • Academic counseling (specific to an individual's disability)
  • Referral services
  • Self-advocacy skills

Requests for Accommodations

All requests for accommodations should be made directly to Student Disability Services. Notice to other campus partners (e.g. Admission, Orientation Staff, Health  & Counseling Center, Faculty) is not considered notice to the Institution.

Support Services

St. Edward’s cares about the safety and well-being of our community, and prioritizes the total well-being of all students. These support services will help ensure you have the best academic experience possible.

Behavioral Intervention Team

The St. Edward’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) cares for students, faculty, and staff who may be in distress. Keep our community healthy and safe — learn how to report a concern, identify the behaviors of someone in distress, and become familiar with available resources

Bias Incident Response Team

The St. Edward’s Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) serves our community by creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive educational environment. Learn how to identify an incident of bias and when or how to make a report. See the members of our Bias Incident Response Team.
