The image shows a serene, tree-lined walkway on a university campus during fall. The trees have vibrant yellow leaves, creating a canopy over the path. Several students are walking along the path, some with backpacks, and others carrying bags. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with the warm colors of autumn leaves contrasting against the greenery. Banners with the words "St. Edward's University" are visible along the walkway.

Campus Safety

St. Edward’s University is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community who study, research, live and work at any of our campuses.

The Office of Campus Safety brings together law enforcement and emergency preparedness to proactively inform and protect our campus community. The University Police and Campus Resilience departments ensure emergency planning programs, crime prevention efforts, parking enforcement and police investigations are working collaboratively to create an environment in which all members of our university community experience a sense of safety and security. Working together yields a more focused and successful crime-fighting team. Reviewing the information provided will increase your awareness, and awareness is the precursor to action.

The image depicts two smartphones against a blue background. The left smartphone displays a loading screen with the text "Topper Safe" and an illustration of a coat, suggesting it's an application starting up. Below the coat, additional text reads "The Official Mobile Safety App of St. Edward's University." The right smartphone shows the home screen of the same app, featuring options like "Friend Walk," "Emergency Contacts," and "Safety Toolbox."

The image shows a close-up of an illuminated exit sign. The sign features a pictogram of a figure running towards an arrow pointing to the right, indicating the direction towards an exit. The lighting gives off a warm, orange glow, and the background is dark, emphasizing the sign's illumination and its importance as a guide in low-light conditions.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The Hilltop is a safe place to live, learn and work. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is a great resource for our community to learn more about the programs and policies the university has implemented to keep it that way. The Office of Campus Safety prepares this report in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. Updated versions are published each October 1st and hard copies are also available on request at the University Police Department.

The image depicts a tranquil outdoor scene in a park-like setting with lush greenery. There is a large, sprawling tree with twisting branches dominating the left side of the frame, extending horizontally across much of the image. Underneath it, two individuals appear to be walking and conversing; one individual is wearing dark clothing and the other light clothing with denim pants. In the background, another individual is seated on a bench, partially obscured by foliage.

Safe Walk

SafeWalk SEU is a student-led, student-run service to safely escort students, faculty and staff to and from areas around campus (limited to the borders of campus) during evening and night hours during the fall and spring semesters. SafeWalk SEU supplements the escorting service provided by UPD. At this time, we are running Monday–Thursday, 7:00–11:30 p.m. To request a ride or walk within the borders of campus call 512-326-SAFE (7233). To learn more about this program or to volunteer, contact Frank Saucedo.

The image depicts a paved circular area with the words "ST. EDWARD'S UNIVERSITY AUSTIN, TEXAS" and the year "1885" inscribed on it. This emblem or seal is likely located on St. Edward's University campus in Austin, Texas. The surrounding lush green trees create a serene atmosphere, and white buildings with multiple windows can be seen in the background. The image conveys a sense of heritage and natural beauty associated with the university.

Campus Carry

St. Edward’s University chose to opt out of Texas Senate Bill 11, commonly referred to as Campus Carry, continuing its long-standing policy of prohibiting weapons on campus in accordance with the Student Handbook (page 35) and Employee Handbook (page 33). University leadership believes concealed handguns on campus present significant concerns and are not conducive to a positive learning environment. Opinions expressed during campus-wide information sessions in December 2015 support the university’s position on this matter. Only active law enforcement personnel are excluded from this policy. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding weapons on campus, please call the University Police Department at 512-448-8444.
