Residence Director My name is Christy Brown and although this will be my first year in Teresa Hall, I have worked in Residence Life at St. Ed's for the last three years. This year marks my sixth year as a student affairs professional, and I am looking forward to another fun and challenging year.
I completed my B.A. in foreign languages (Russian/German) at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. After studying in Germany as a teenager, I had the chance to study in Romania and Russia as a college student. Upon graduation, I moved to Louisiana to begin my professional career in residence life, working as an advisor to 11th and 12th graders at a public residential high school for gifted students. Recently, I became an alumna of St. Edward's when I completed my master of liberal arts degree here, and I am looking forward to continuing my education even further in the spring.
Originally from Chicago, I have lived all over the country, and enjoy traveling and experiencing new food, sights and sounds. I love writing and reading, all kinds of music, taking in sporting events, and watching favorite TV shows when I get the chance. I am always up for a round of Trivial Pursuit or Cranium!
My office is adjacent to the main lounge in Teresa. If there's ever anything I can do, or a question I might be able to answer, please don't hesitate to stop by!
RA Staff:
1st North-Ashley Ortega
My name is Ashley Ortega and I am from a little place in south Texas called Donna. This is my third year at St. Edward's University and first as a Resident Assistant. I lived in Teresa my freshman year and was a frequent visitor during my sophomore year; needless to say, I am pretty at home in Teresa Hall.
I have two little sisters, so I can better recall an episode of That's So Raven before one from The Hills. When it comes to movies, I much prefer to watch them with other people around... so I'm looking forward to many movie nights in Teresa's Lobby!! Food is another interest of mine. I am by no means a good cook, but plan on working in a lot of practice this year; I've already progressed by learning how to NOT burn popcorn.
I, without a doubt, expect this year to be amazing. If there is anything that I can do to make it even more so, please do not hesitate to let me know about it!!
1st South-Andres Crosby
Hello everybody and welcome to Teresa Hall. My name is Andres Crosby and I am the resident assistant of first floor south and of the Living Learning Community. This is my first year as an RA but my third year in Teresa. I am a junior studying International Business with an emphasis on Latin America. I am very excited for this upcoming year! As you can tell I am very competitive and love outdoor sports, which include joining the newly created rugby team. My door is nearly always open and I am looking forward to meeting everyone!
2nd North-Vincent Powell
Hello out there, my name is Vincent Powell and I am one of the RAs in Teresa Hall. The floor I am responsible for is the second floor on the north side. This is my senior year and I am a Communication major. I've been an RA for 3 years but that's not all I can do. I've been a member of the HillRaisers, Student Government, the Student Leadership Team, and Student Ambassadors. I like hanging out, watching movies, reading comic books and playing video games as well as board games. If you see me around campus don't hesitate to say hello because I'd love to talk to ya!
2nd South-Alyssa O'Krent
Alyssa grew up in San Antonio Texas. An Austin-ite at heart, Alyssa attributes her love for Austin to her frequent visits to her dad who's lived in Austin for seven years. Her older brother now lives in Austin as a young working professional. Alyssa's hobbies include yoga, tennis, running, music and all its components, volunteering as a big sister and serving as president of the Hillel Toppers. Alyssa is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. After spending 6 months in Buenos Aires as a sophomore she enjoys speaking Spanish more than ever. She hopes to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and to see the world.
