Theater On The Hilltop

Mary Moody Northen Theatre operates as a professional arena theater offering programming that enriches, engages and entertains both the campus community and the greater Austin area.

Standing at the center of the Department of Performing Arts training program, MMNT productions allow students to discover their voices as performers, producers, and storytellers while working alongside professional actors, directors and designers. Through our academic and theatrical programming, we all work towards building a more ethical and inclusive theatrical field. MMNT is the only undergraduate program in the United States that offers a full season of performances in agreement with the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), the union of professional actors and stage managers.

Arrive early to experience a picturesque sunset and view the twinkling city lights. During the spring performances you won’t want to miss the blanket of bluebonnets covering the hilltop. MMNT is located minutes from the vibrant South Congress Shopping District, allowing our patrons to enjoy unique restaurants, shopping and nightlife before or after a show.

Directions and Parking

We know Austin traffic and campus parking can be a challenge, so we ask that you allow yourself plenty of time to reach MMNT and arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the show.

Directions

St. Edward's University is located at 3001 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78704. The campus is south of Oltorf Drive and west of I-35. The campus is easily accessible from Congress Avenue or I-35. Border streets include Woodward Avenue to the south, Congress Avenue to the west, and St. Edward's Drive to the north. There are campus entrances from each of these streets. The Mary Moody Northen Theatre is located on the east side of our campus at the end of Theatre Pass. You will recognize MMNT from its round design, its prominent placement on the hilltop, and the identifying banners on the sides of the building. Get driving directions and learn more.

Parking/Vehicle Registration

Campus parking is free for ticket holders; however, St. Edward's University parking policy requires MMNT visitors to register their vehicle when attending a performance. A link to the vehicle parking registration form and a parking map will be emailed 24-hours prior to your performance to email address associated with your ticket order. Unless you are a current student, faculty, or staff with a 2023/24 campus parking permit, please complete the short vehicle registration prior to your arrival on campus. Once registered, you may park in the Green, Blue, and Yellow parking lots, which includes the campus Parking Garage. Please do not park in Orange parking lots. See campus parking map. With numerous campus events happening simultaneously, please allow your party plenty of time to park and arrive to the theater. Please refrain from curb parking.
