Santiago, '78, MBA '88, executive director of Texas Association
of School Business Officials (TASBO) is recipient of the 2001 MBA
Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Edward's University.
Santiago
is affectionately referred to as a 'double Hilltopper' because she
received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. Edwardês.
She states that one of her greatest personal accomplishments was
"being able to complete my bachelors degree while juggling
a full-time job, a husband and two teenagers."
Prior
to TASBO, Santiago was the chief financial officer for the Round
Rock Independent School District for 25 years and for the North
East Independent School District in San Antonio for seven years.
She received the Outstanding School Business Official of the Year
Award in 1994.
Santiago
served as chair of the TBASO Legislative Committee for 10 years
and chair of the lead staff for the Texas School Alliance, a consortium
of 24 of the largest school districts in Texas.
St.
Edwardês University is an independent Catholic liberal arts university
of 3,800 students in Austin. It was founded by the Congregation
of Holy Cross.
