Edward's University will host an opening reception for the premiere
exhibition of nationally-noted Austin artist Melissa Miller on Friday,
Feb. 9, from 6-8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Gallery on campus.
The exhibition will be on display Monday, Feb. 5 through Sunday,
Feb. 25 in the Fine Arts Center Gallery.
Miller
is known for her expressionist paintings depicting animals as metaphors
for human situations and dilemmas. Her work has been exhibited in
major museums throughout America and has been included in the prestigious
Whitney Museum of American Art.
Exhibition
hours are Monday through Friday, from 3-5 p.m. and Saturday and
Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Appointments for viewing can also be made by
calling 448-8685. Admission is free and open to the public.
St.
Edward's University is an independent Catholic liberal arts university
of 3,800 students in Austin. It was founded by the Congregation
of Holy Cross.
