AUSTINSt.
Edward's University presented Barbara Cassidy, professor
of accounting, with the 2001 Distinguished Teaching Award for exceptional
teaching and dedicated service to St. Edward's University.
The
selection process included classroom observations by peer faculty,
a letter of support from department dean, course evaluation from
students and various teaching materials that characterize the St.
Edward's experience and mission while meeting the educational needs
of our diverse student population.
Cassidy
is a certified public accountant and personal financial specialist.
She is a professor of accounting, accounting program coordinator
and assistant dean for The School of Business Administration. She
has been elected and appointed to numerous university committees
and serves as a volunteer for student recruitment, retention, advising,
and graduation events. Cassidy's lobbying efforts resulted in a
formal university policy to ban credit card company solicitations
on the St. Edwardês campus. She is a member of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified
Public Accountants-State and Austin Chapter.
St.
Edward's University is an independent Catholic liberal arts university

of Holy Cross.
